hi.
you mean 'move it over' ? ......
that's fine.
are you concerend about inverting the Ecu ?
you're not really are you ?
it knows not, up from down.
just want a temp-stable, dust free, moisture, free location for it, ( which means in the cabin )
and easy access for troubleshooting.
z'all.

Spoken like a true teacher Scott. More is better in things like this. More: Flip it upside down? I'm wrestling with the same decision on me '86.
I do like Chris' idea better, at first glance.

well, that's the short terse answer.
The two version vans use the very same hole location in the firewall for
where the wires come though.
and ..........just flip it , or move it however you can so it fits under the
rear seat.
I often cut a small piece out of the wooden 'end piece' so it'll clear the
wires better........
like with a saber saw I cut out a curved one inch by 3 inch
section...........so it'll clear the wires there better.
I'm always making things opptimised for working on them. - like this'll come
in handly if troubleshooting on the ECU wiring harness or when you put a
Subaru ECU and wiring harness in there !

I am in the process of converting my 87 syncro into a

do about the engine computer under the rear seat ? It
hits the water tank in its current location. Did the
Syncro Westies have a different water tank ?
move it over.
