I have an '81 with the gas heater and it cannot run continuously. With the engine off, it will run about 10 min on a timer built in the temp control knob.

Push it IN and turn and it winds up the timer.

The manual writes about using it once or twice to warm up the van, but warns about running the battery down with too much use.

And thanks to Robert Keezer, too! Over the years I've gotten parts for my heater to keep it running.

Richard
