Subject: Is it normal to loose coolant when...
Content-type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

an Alternator/water pump belt breaks? I had a belt give out coming up the hill less than a 1/4 mile from home and as it was so close just went the extra couple of blocks. The car obviously heated up a bit and could hear the gurgling of the coolant system, but i actually lost 40-50 ozs of coolant. Not sure where it came out but could see the stream down the road. it looks like it came from the pressurized reservoir - but not sure. Is this normal or did I also spring a leak in a hose somewhere ? Does the overflowreservoir have a vent at the top?

I guess after I replace the belt and fire er up I will find out, and it's far better to loose this belt a cpl of blocks from home rather than out in the desert somewhere.
