Roger, you must mean "T3" rather than "Type 3", right? Vanagons are Type 2 T3's as opposed to the Type 3 cars.

Do you mean that raised section on the floor? IIRC it is a vent system to bring heat to the rear section. I took mine off to gain floor space in my Doka.
