After getting the new FAG bearing pressed in I thought it would be just to put everything back together. Not so...

I think I screwed up some what. I have misused a hand tool that everyone has one and knows how to use one. It's called a hammer. Man, it is such a useful tool that I used it all the time. I always had good result from using it. But not this time.

I smashed the tip of a ball joint a little when I tried to separate it from the steering structure (don't know its correct name). I did use a correct Kent Moore ball joint separator. But I also used the hammer a little. Now when I tried to put the ball joint back to where it came off and when I tried to screw the lock nut back on it turned the ball joint. It is a ball on the other end, isn't it? There is nothing to keep it from turning. I screwed up. Stupid me! Should have locked that hammer away not reachable too easily.

Any suggestions please? I may need to repair the thread on the tip (threaded end) of the ball joint too. I realized today that putting everything back together is harder than taking them apart.

David
