I sleep down below so I took the upper bunk pads and replaced the foam with memory 2" foam. I put them over the lower bed bumpy bed and they work really well that way. Not sure about anyone else, but it was a total surprise to me to discover that the upper bed is the same size as the lower bed. Get some memory foam (3 lb density) - you'll like it. I got mine at Overstock.com. Same price for all sizes: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Serta-2-inch-Memory-Foam-Topper-with-Contour-Pillows/2653495/product.html?
