wouldn't it be great if the cost of oil reduces the sheer mass volume of things made out of plastic !? .........like say dog houses. Plastic is great for some applications, like computers say, and cell phones - , we couldn't have those without plastics. but making just 'everything' almost out of plastic........... especially the thick cheap kind, which often ends up in landfill.......... be nice to see less of that. Such a joy to see something old fashioned made out of metal, or even wood in the right applications. Let's hope the slow down of the economy and the now well recognized value of petroleum , leads to less consumerism, less landfill, more durable products, and recycling as appropriate. Someday *everything* will be recycled I suspect.

as for 'young people' being on the clueless end of the scale about practical things - don't even get me started !~! lol. Scott btw, my daughter helped me with wheels and a lug wrench when she was 4, and helped me service her family's Volvo car when she was 10..........and a few months later she was able to tell a professional car shop out in the boonies that what they thought was the fuel filter under the hood sure was not. And I worked on my tricycle............and modified it...........before I went to kindergarten. One of my 5 joke claims to fame.
