I have 2 - 1.5-2" thick Thermarest self inflating/deflating pads that I use on the bottom mattress as my "trunk weight" causes pressure point pain to moi when I sleep on my sides. They work well, roll up as they are made for backpacking or fold in half & store behind the upper folded bed when the poptop is down. You use 1 for each sleeper, so you don't necessarily need 2 unless your trunk weight is more than Al Knoll's or Mr. Squirrel's, I am not sure which 1 is which? The pads are flat on both sides, easy to get dog hair off. (ask moi how I know) I think they are about $60-70 apiece. but are lightweight, portable & easy to set up/store.
