I went to a local propane supplier and got them to make up a 3 foot hose for me that will screw into a t-junction before my Westy regulator and at the other end has a fitting for 1 lb bottles. We have managed to put many men on the moon but no one can figure out how much propane is in a tank, so I always carry this hose. When I run out of propane in the middle of breakfast (likeliest time for propane to run out) I have my 1 lb bottle backup. Mmmm, ...breakfast.
