Well, the question you have to answer is how many times do you want to remove the gas tank ? Whenever some asks me "what's the cost of replacing a gas tank" I have to go through this whole scenario with them. We are dealing with going on 25 year old vehicles ! There is more to EVERY job than just replacing the part that we know is bad. ALL the crap above the gas tank is in the same state of condition as the gas tank or whatever other part your replacing. So............do it now or do it later your choice !

I spent the entire day yesterday changing all the brake lines on the front of a '91 weekender, right up to the callipers. The rear had already been done previously by some other shop. The lines were so rusted they basically fell out, except for the connector ends. Putting all those lines back up there with their myrid of twists and turns and getting them up behind all the wires, hoses, cables, steering gear, suspension components, etc was a frigin' nightmare. One of dirtiest, worst, jobs I've ever done ! Now, this '91, YES '91 I said, Westy Weekender has all new brake lines & hoses, front to back. The pedal is hard as rock now ! Beautiful to step on the brake pedal. That was my only satisfaction -- until I get my pay check today !

YOU guys on the West Coast have no idea what we have to put up with over here !!!!!

>>>>>Hm. I have my gas tank out right now. Wonder if I ought to go ahead and replace the brake lines. They don't look TOO bad, but there is some rust. Also the proportioning valve is VERY rusty.<<<<<
