Subject: Whistle-like sound from front brake (searched)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

I don't recognize this brake sound. It's not a typical high pitched brake squeal. Hopefully list wisdom can some light.

I drive/use brakes for ~ 10 minutes, then when pushing brake pedal through first 1/2 of travel, a 1/2 second whistle sound, comes from the front.

And.....

Pulled the wheels, pads/rotors look ok, but I hear a *slight* grinding noise when braking at slower speeds. (with a quieter engine, I hear more noises!)

Any pointers where to look first for cause of whistle sound?

Could the *slight* grinding sound be due to metallic pads?

The brakes are ok, but if I install dealership pads/pins, I'd like to pinpoint the whistle source problem before that.

Much thanks,

Neil.
