I had a faulty thermostat. It was less than a year old and, looking back on things, was faulty when it was initially installed. Get an IR Temp gun and start snooping around for inconsistent readings in the coolant system. My bad t-stat wasn't opening all the way and showed a jump in temp at the t-stat housing.

I have trouble with mine reading way too high. The fan does come on sometimes in town and the engine is not overheating at all. What is the remedy for this?
