To elaborate a bit, one of the biggest values of the forum is to create
categories, so that people can choose what they want to read, rather than
having everything presented to them in email.  For example:

- engine
- drive train
- suspension
- brakes
- trans: manual
- trans: auto
- electrical
- body
- wheels
- accessories
- westys: kitchen equipment
- westys: pop-top and body
- camping
- trips
- green (alt. fuel)
- diesels
- friday follies
- DIY
- non-Vanagon subjects

Heck, we can use the categories already in place elsewhere like at BTDT.
Most forum SW has a "show new" feature so that people can read
chronologically just like emails.  And I have had my vanagon.com email on
gmail for some time now, it helps a great deal, but still doesn't make it as
good as a forum.
