But shouldn't the pressurized expansion tank cap let off the extra pressure? I comtemplating getting a new cap from the VW dealer.

Funny thing is that the dealer's sensor price they gave me was right in line with the on-line vendors, (~21.00) but the cap was $25.00, vs. less than $9.00 for the on-line vendors.
