As a grumpy old fart and email only proponent, I'd like to have the list remain the way it is. Plain and simple. I like the sense of community (even though Frydaes don't seem to be the same as in years past), I like the immediacy of responses to my queries and assorted questions (its great to be able to not have to dig through a group forum to get help), being able to answer questions and give help, advice and commiseration based upon what comes across my mailbox, and lastly to be able to vicariously share in other's trips, triumphs and, yes, their down times. The list is a potpuri, a collage and a community of all things Vanagon. It has developed a personality over the years. As an old fart, (I've been on here since 2/93) I am proud to still wear "Poor" Richard Palmer's "NETVERNUGEN" t-shirts and sip from his coffee cups. Speaking of which, "NETVERNUGEN" seems to somehow capture the spirit of the list. What was that song from "Fiddler on the Roof"??? TRADITION! As in the past, when we had the split between the air-cooled and Vanagon groups, someone can always start their own forum based group and its attendant sub forums, etc.
