Ok...
Now my two cents... I use Outlook Rules and key words to place various
content into specific folders. It works very good for me, and I then search
my own Outlook database when I need some of the great content all the wisdom
this list has to offer.

Joy,
I'm getting in on this thread late, but I subscribe to another group
with a population of about 5,000. We just killed a move to go to forum
format for the very reasons you spoke of. Due to the nature of the
group, and how interactive the membership is, and the fact that the
topics weave in and out of every subject under the sun, but with one
central focus always at the core, we ALL felt we would be missing some
serious connectivity that makes us more than a forum on the net, but a
viable community, with extensions into the real world, just like here -
where we have meetings and trips and people come out to help other
people, etc, etc, We are cross borders too, in this other group, and
this kind of close linkage is significant. Same in this crowd. I'm with
you, Joy. E-mail Lists Forever!!!
