well, it's just metal, a very workable material.
you either bend, or cut and get back to shape, the re-weld.........
or ..........hey.......even cut good jacking points off a donor vanagon body
..........
cut the old smashed ones off, weld on the new ones , etc.
whatever it takes - it's metal, a very workable material.
I've never thought of cutting jacking points off a vanagon body
before............but I do have a totally rust free vanagon donor body, if
that's something the poster would be interested in.
And you gotta carry at Least One alterative/extra jack if you are at all
serious about self-rescue.
Wouldn't syncro owners that go bashing off road look around and underneath
at things after a 'really good' rock bashing session anyway ?
You'd think some might.

( speaking of this sort of thing...........one thing that seems very unwise
to me is spare tire holders for underneath the front for a bigger than a
stock spare tire, but there is no protection for the sidewall of that spare
tire...........one whole sidewall is hanging out for any sharp rock to jump
up and poke a hole in it. The stock 'fully covers the sidewall' spare tire
carrier only seems smart to me. )

i have a hydraulic bottle jack for situations where OEM vehicle jack fails
to be clear i lean as i go -
