How full was the gas tank? Maybe the leak is at that end...? Filler neck seal, vent seals, etc.

Our hoses have all been replaced with high-pressure fuel-injection
hoses. (Maybe two years ago, following a fuel leak.)

We had AAA tow the van ( commentary in a previous post :-/ ) to our
repair shop. Our mechanic, who we trust so far (having switched shops
from a previous one who proved unreliable) said he was simply unable
to find any leak. ???:-/ We offered to pay him to go over all our
hoses and make sure the connections were tight. He did report that
many of them needed tightening. (And he didn't charge us anything for
his time.)

So, we picked up Esme yesterday, and all the way home (maybe 20 miles)
I saw no evidence of anything dripping from the car I was following
in. And today we drove a coupla' miles to the carwash and home, and
no evidence of anything dripping.

But ... still ... *FUEL*??? :-o

Why would that happen? What's the expected life of a good set of
hoses? We do have a fire extinguisher behind the passenger seat, but
I would much rather not have to use it ...
