Actually, if the automatic has a water-cooled circuit then, yes, an automatic would generate more heat. Bentley shows that there is such

a thing (coolant water going to the AT) but I don't remember actually

seeing this on my van.

Does the vanagon AT have a coolant-water heat exchanger?
