Yes, I agree. No, I didn't have a fire. Dodged the bullet two or three times in my '88
Westy, arriving home after short trips to smell gasoline as I drove into the garage
(might have been the van AND THE HOUSE going up in flames) until I found the leak and
replaced all of the fuel lines. Thought I had fixed it before.
And in my main van, the '90 Westy, I now have a Halotron II mounted behind the
driver's seat. Not cheap by any means, but neither is a hard-to-replace '90 Westy. And
no powder mess to clean up.

seriously people, aside from changing fuel lines.... PLEASE carry a NEW FIRE
EXTINGUISHER...(new, means NEW, not the 20 year old westy extinguisher) in
your vanagon, and MOUNT IT BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT. not thrown in your rear
cabinet which will be the last place you want to have to look when your van is
experiencing a engine fire.

cost of BRAND NEW fire extinguisher from wal-mart or other discount store:
$20 max

time it takes to install behind your drivers seat:
15 mins max if your a retard

knowing that you can actually get to your NEW extinguisher in the event of a
engine fire:
priceless.
