Hey volks,

What did you use for flooring when you renovated your Vanagon/Westy and why?

I've got the yellow, compacted, sound dampening material under the carpet (which is trashed) and am considering keeping the mid seat tracks exposed after I'm finished but haven't decided:

- To keep or trash the yellow layer. - Whether or not to install rubber sound dampening material from Lowe's roofing dept.

I have decided to install:

- 3/8" plywood - floor tiles

I'd really like to just use the yellow layer instead of the roofing material but realize all the furniture/trim will have to be raised/modified to allow for the extra height. I'm thinking I'll regret that move for the remainder of the renovation. Is it a bad idea to go with a thinner underlayment, say 1/4" plywood, given that I would have the yellow layer beneath it for support?

Thoughts?
