All of my vehicles wear Nokians or they wear nothing at.............
oops, wrong commercial. Seriously though, every vehicle we own and
those at my parents house all have Nokian snow tires. The only
exception is the `79 Triumph Spitfire which I am sure you can
understand, it sits in a garage all winter. When I get around to
purchasing snow tires for my mountain bike they will also be Nokians.
Though I rarely need them here as I have the advantage of 30yrs
experience(as of next month) driving on ice and snow, I consider snow
tires to be cheap insurance and they have saved me a few times.
That said, do you need snow tires in Bend???? It snows there, but how
much, and how long does it last? I do not know having never been there.
First rule of driving on snow and ice: SLOW DOWN! After that comes,
leave more space between you and the car in front, drive defensively,
plan ahead so you do not have to stop at the top, bottom, etc, of a
hill. Don't lock your brakes up, pump the pedal, practice slids in an
empty lot to learn skid control. Last but not least, no matter how hard
you sound your horn the road sign in front of you will NOT move out of
the way! That one was a long time ago, I have since moved on to other
blunders.
