What's wrong with listserv?  I know we're using an old version, but
it does the job quite nicely as far as I can see.  I'm sure majordomo
would also work, but I don't see it as an advance in any way.  Also,
if it should come to it, listserv is being actively maintained now,
while majordomo's current version is going on nine years old.

For what it's worth, all the majordomo lists I used to be on years
ago either died or moved to yahoogroups and similar.  The listserv
lists I was on, including this one, are still listserv lists.

I would imagine that this list is running under *nix
presently.  Listserv *is* currently available for Windows, but the
performance hit would be noticeable I think.
