Hi,

I'm drawing on my driving-on-snow experience from growing up in
Chicago.  Mark has the right idea.  Imagine the first light
rainshowers onto San Diego area roads, when everything gets to be as
slippery as a very slippery thing, and drivers all freak out, and
things get really, really, dicey.

I'm sure you've driven under those conditions.  Driving in snow is
very similar.

An added driving-in-snow tip (this may not apply to Bend but certain
does apply to Chicago).  Watch out for the apparently dry but ...
just ... a bit ... not right color of pavement.  It may be black ice.
