It would probably be cheaper than using Aeroquip braided lines like I've been meaning to do for the last five years.

Could you use preformed steel brake lines between two fuel rail blocks? You still would have the short hoses connecting the injectors though.

Maybe designing a "kit" which would replace the plastic fuel rails and rubber lines with machined rails and steel lines? How much is that worth?

It occurred to me how it might also reduce Vanagon engine fires two fold. The reduced engine compartment heat might decrease the rapid deterioration of the fuel lines and second (long shot), reduce the volatility of any gasoline that has erupted long enough for the driver to get stopped.
