ah................., the old 'justify not repairing it' thing. I have numerous throttle bodies for waterboxer engines that I might sell. I was going to install a NEW one on a guy's Vanagon once. I think dealer price was near $ 750 !

AFM's are a weak link anyway................anywhere there is an interface between electronics and something mechanical. Subaru and other more advanced engines have an Air Mass Meter with no moving parts of course.

AND...........I just learned this the hard way - 'air leaks' ..........the intake system has about 18 places that can leak air. The tiniest air leak can make it not respond properly to opening the throttle. Even where two screws hold the fuel pressure regulator bracket to the plenum- I found tiny leaks there. When I finally got ALL the air leaks on the intake system fixed........ then it finally starting acting like it should !

get it idling and then listen with a listen tube or hose at every little fitting or junction on the entire air intake system. I found 8 or so air leaks. Different engine with those fixed. Scott www.turbovans.com

I know nothing of this guy as a builder but I have seen this question come up about him quite ofter, I am wondering about the throttle body with vacumn switch set up. My current engine is having issue with a worn out throttle body, the switch on it, and the afm is flaky. I wish I could find this stuff used, but don't want to spend any money because I am planning an engine swap. The swap is the reason I have bombarding you with emails with stuff for sale.
