ditto .... a few of us have propane-fired heaters located in various places inside our vans and NEVER use them with anything opened to the outside cold air. They're designed to be used that way. (Propex, Carver, etc.)

Oh, and I'm using rubber, properly-rated hoses on my aux. propane tank installation and Carver hook-up. Easy to work with and would be very easy to replace, if needed.
