I just completed replacing spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, filters,
changed oil and replaced the water pump and associated hoses. The bearing in the
pump was going bad and it was making a little noise.  The spark plugs had
been replaced about three years ago and showed only a little wear and came out
looking clean.  I just  passed 283,000 miles and drive the Silver  Twinkie to
work every day as I have for the past ten years.
