Good point. Another thing, I didn't like attaching holddown lines to
van, walked into them too often. I just used pegs and led them out at
a slight angle like a tent.

Yeah, that was my 1st impression also, but the 1/4" dia. poles at
each end w/ 10' of awning in between doesn't restrict you as much as
the hold down ropes to the vanagon bumpers, & those aren't too bad IMHO.
