YRMV, but I can tell you that the ref (Alameda, CA) that passed my Subie 2.2 conversion would have ended the conversation at "OBDII". There is absolutely NO WAY this guy would have even considered looking at your van if you had an OBDII conversion in there. Spending $5K and rolling the dice is just plain crazy, IMHO.
