How about that? I helped Shintaro who is a friend of Yoshi (Nippon Vanagon Club) to acquire a 1984 Wolfsburg Edition Westfalia camper for his "Paradise Tour" of the US. I just recall that there were lots of photos being taken and just assumed they were personal souvenirs. I was aware that Shintaro was writing an article about his Stateside experience. I did not expect my mug shot was going to be in the mag. Anyway, just some highlights, Shintaro picked-up the AAZ powered Westy at Tassi's in Colma. From there he took the van and sorted any obvious faults like a non-working galley in Sebastopol, California. After Sebastopol, he crissed-crossed the US skipping areas when weather was bad. Within about 3 months, Shintaro logged nearly 12,000 miles and averaged 35mpg while cruising mostly at 65mph. For the curious, the magazine article is in the July 2008 issue (starting at page 120 -- remember to start on the back cover). That's the issue I am in. There was a follow-up on the August 2008 issue. Since I cannot read Japanese, I can't tell if the article had ended. I will find out soon enough. The magazine website is www.campcar-mag.com Saw them for sale on Amazon.com.
