Interesting. That's the opposite of what VW told me. Katy did say they did
not plan on building a camper but she did say the VW Bus concept vehicle is
not dead.  What I took away from that was possibly the Routan is a stop gap
measure until they build their plant here in TN. Then they will produce vans
alongside their cars. If they produce vans then they may produce campers.  I
know I'm being overly optimistic but it doesn't make sense that after VW
builds their own plant to keep paying Chrysler to build their van.

As for the Routan, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Though I think
it's too late for VW to try to market ANY "same as everyone else" minivan I
don't think this van is going to be a bad vehicle. I'm going to give it a
chance and see what happens. Sorry folks, VW is not the pinnacle of
reliability when it comes to building vans for the US and hasn't been for
close to 30 years.

Thanks Pete - another great article on the current state of VW. According to
the correspondance I received from VW after I wrote that letter and played
phone tag - "we currently have no plans for producing a new VW bus". Then
again that could be canned prose to shut me up. I'm hoping there is some
hope in that TN plant.
