I had one of those side tents a couple of years ago, the "Hamburg".

The weather was nice and clear, but we were in the desert right at the foot of a large mountain range. Just pre-dawn a very nice wind came down the mountains and blew it down with my son sleeping in it. The wind tore some of the mounting tabs right off of the tent, which had to be sewn back on. It is sold now, but makes for a lingering fun family story. So I am not too big on these side tents at the moment. At the time they were actually labeled "awnings" rather than tents; I still have the setup instructions .PDF file entitled "THE JK 'HAMBURG' TUNNEL AWNING".
