I can't comment on the model you purchased, but i've had very good luck with this Reliance product:

Mine doesn't leak and they're pretty common around here (why do I think they're made here in Winnipeg?) Hmm the Reliance head office is here but not sure where they're made.

That being said they list for $11.99 so I guess you get what you pay for but my family has had 3 or 4 and never had any issues.
