Such pomes as "Lessons of the Road" by Alfred E.Lord Tennisbum and "Tires" by Robert W. Service-Advisor tend to bring on a bit of nostalgia, and remembrances of "Roads Less Traveled By". A few of us, in an earlier age, had the privilege of doing some serious clutching and gear shifting while traveling a 1500 mile gravel road to the Far North and the promised land known as "The Great Land", on tires both round and flat at the same time, mounted on a box that most of us thought invincible as we struck out on a seeming great adventure.. Eventually each of us arrived at a long narrow valley with the gravel road arching first to one side of the valley, then down across the bottom and back up the slope on the other side, only to pause momentarily, before dipping and sweeping back down in the opposite direction, continuing it's oscillations until it disappeared from sight. Travel along that road was wearing, on both vehicle and traveler, and when one lonely traveler stopped to rest a bit, the following observation was written about this "Road Les Traveled By" in those days.

Winding in , and winding out, There is no doubt That the Lout That laid this route, Was going to Hell or coming out! Author unknown
