> Unfortunately, in the real world where a Vanagon is your primary means > of transportation, shortcuts are taken. Then you must chant the > mantra;" There's never enough time to do it right but there's always > time to do it twice...". Indeed. Yesterday, while driving my "spare" Vanagon because the other one's laid up, my coolant light started blinking. Pulled off the freeway and into the gas station and found a waterfall spraying from between the front wheels. The classic "plastic pipe/metal insert" failure. Took me all of 45 minutes to pull the insert from the hose, add a tek screw to keep the hose from sliding off the pipe, reattach the hose and refill/bleed the system. I was pleased to make it to my destination only a half hour late, but it's not done RIGHT! So today I get to drain it all and try to re-insert the insert... My friends think I'm insane, but they're the kind of people that treat cars like appliances... -- John Bange '90 Vanagon - "Lastwagen" '90 Vanagon GL - "Wiesel" |
