My 85 westy had that issue as well. Replaced the Temp 2 and it didnt help but found that the wire from the temp 2 to the brain was intermittant and would run good once and crap the next even barely stumble home kind thing. another issue that I had was the lifters were over charging and making it not fire on a certain cylinder. So I would drive along and start to loose power and have hesitation. since it started to run on 3 cylinders. found that one with a compression tester. Tested the cylinder and it had 0 psi adjusted the valves to 0 clearance and bingo great compression. Those were my demons on my 85. Both were corrected and it ran great. converted to a zetec so now the motor sits on a dolly waiting for a suitable donor. All in good fun. Good Luck Jonce
