Wow, what an ignorant statement. You know squat about my experience which
is approximately 30+ years of working on a great variety of vehicles for
living. I'm a long-time shop owner and currently a Registered Importer with
the NHTSA. Just so you don't go spouting off again from lack of
knowledge... a Registered Importer converts imported vehicles to make them
comply with U.S. emissions and safety standards.
So... what are YOUR qualifications?
Let's review... you stated it was a common term that a "push rod cover" is
interchangeable with valve cover. Obviously, that is not a common concept.

So, other than demonstrating your lack of exposure to different
engines, what's your point? Of the 34,000+ hits for "push rod cover,"
less than 15% even contain the term "VW". Fewer still actually use the
term in relation to a VW part. The first two hits go to an autoparts
store site with "no parts found" for a "push rod cover grommet." I'll
admit I have no clue what that is on a VW, but it's in reference to
aircooled engines. Most hits are search engine spam. There is a hit on
one small picture at thesamba, which might be the pieces under
discussion. Otherwise, the only reasonable hits on Google's first page
of results point to a VW _brake_ push rod cover.
I'll give you that Google does produce a total of 5 (!) hits for "push
rod tube cover," and all are related to VW.
