I prefer to KISS. My Aladdin, wide bottom, top filled, lidded, 20 oz. mug keeps me coffee warm for about an hour (best I've ever seen) and doesn't spill if I place it on me instrument cluster cover, Vanagon type (content) but I mighta splurged for a $27 handy dandy 99 tool, console 'cup holder' this weekend when after being so excited about taking Savannah on her first Huckleberry Harvest, I left my mug, full of my weekend special sitting on the bloody counter!

What a runon sentence/para!
