Engine tin is pretty much standard when it comes to rear engine VWs. Saying protective plate (which is straight out of ETKA) is kind of like saying sealing ring when you're talking about an o-ring for the crankshaft.

Arrgh.

This would all be so much easier if people used the right names for things. There are valve covers. There are push rod tubes (which is what I was talking about). Then there is the "Protective Plate," which people are calling "engine tin," "push rod tube cover," etc.
