RE: Diesel What I've gathered from various discussions on diesel is that there is (or was) one major obstacle: California. For many years California flat outlawed any new diesels. With that major, major market closed to the auto makers there was no economic way to develop and start marketing diesel powered passenger vehicles. I understand that California has changed now so who knows what will emerge.
