Uh, I think you're saying let's 'compare ourselves with ourselves', are you not? I agree those folks you describe are rude but my point was that advertising rudeness is a rung lower than the daily rudeness like you described. We've all made mistakes but to advertise a rude attitude (Too slow? Too bad!) is over the top, on purpose, active counter productivity. Since when does tit for tat improve the world we live in?

When I'm in me Vanagon (content) I try to keep to the left but when someone is flashing their lamps at me and I'm already tailgating out of necessity, as you describe, I simply ignore them. Sorta peaceful nonviolence on the roadway, no?
