As I said, if both leads zero you're not getting the pullup from the ECU; if both leads ? 5v ? then open ground; if one zero and t'other +5 then open sender. Resistance btw (disconnected) sender terminals should match the chart in Bentley. If the ECU is seeing a continuous high voltage it will believe the engine is dead cold and act accordingly.
