Thanks to all who responded to my need for an ECU for diagnostics on
my no-spark issue. I got the one Mark Drillock sent today and... it
wasn't the ECU. Well, actually, since I had to run my Vanagon in limp
mode with the O2 sensor disconnected, and I've swapped out sensors and
it didn't help, then I'm sure it is the ECU on that account. But it
didn't fix the no-spark problem.

I couldn't find an LED test lamp in town so I borrowed one. I probed
the wired to the hall effect sensor. With the key on, the two outside
wires read positive (the green light comes on). This seems wrong.
Isn't one of them supposed to fire the red LED, the other the green?

Then I probed the middle wire while my wife turned the engine over.
Connecting with the wire, I get green until she turns the key and then
I get red. No strobing.

Do I understand the test correctly? Is the hall sensor shot?
