Subject:      heater hose suitable as fuel vent hose?

I need to replace the vent line between the tank and the filler neck.
Only thing I can find locally in the right diameter is heater hose.
It's rubber hose, looks like fuel line, and this is a no-pressure and
mostly vapor-only location -- so should it be OK?  The guy at the parts
store said it was.
