sure you could. without looking, I think Vanagons call for Dot 3. correct me if I am wrong of course. Dot 4 is overkill really. 'better' yes, but I doubt anyone will get their brake fluid anywhere near the higher boiling point of Dot 4, or even Dot 3 if they have half a brain.

If you're brakes start fading from overuse on a big descent ..........you better easy off way before any brake fluid boiling can occur ! A person would have to be clueless or dense to get heavily into serious brake fad and not stop driving for a little while at least ! ' I doubt Dot 4 lasts better than Dot 3 or anything like that.
