I don't know about the replacement canvas but I treated both of my original ones with the?brush on type canvas treatment. It was a very messy job with a brush as it leaked trough the brush and down the handle onto my hands as I tried to treat upwards under the top sections. I found it was much easier with thick rubber gloves and using a rag to apply the repellant. Disposable latex gloves dissolved in no time. I found that the top from the 84 soaked up the repellant very well as it was the only one leaking but I had to rub it vigorously to absorb into the 91 top. Before treatment it used to rain right trough the '84 top but this has completely solved that problem.

I would like to put some water repelant on my poptop canvas. The canvas was there when I bought the van, and in almost new condition, but I don't know which type it is. Is is a three-window, pretty thin material.

I'd like to know if anyone has used any water repelant on their canvas that brushes on. Maybe that would be too heavy, but I thought it would save me the hassle of being extra careful not to get overspray where I didn't want it.
