Jim,
I won't get into details here as it's not the proper list but let me just mentionned that a lot of people who are buying or installing Prius plug-in kit have Prius that are already out of warranty for a reason or another (high mileage, older year, salvage) so it's a non issue for them.
For those who are really curious or insterested on this, please listen to this recent Sierra Club interview:

Now back to Vanagon content - I am looking for a rear cushion cover in grey (Westfalia 87+).
:)
Thanks
Christian

Plug in conversions for the prius have been around for years, nice
thought except they have all voided the factory warranty in the past,
which is a big no-no if you have something as complex as a prius, just
because a123's kit is installed at toyota dealers doesn't mean it
won't void the warranties either btw.
The poulsan setup is just wacky and doesn't have DOT approval yet,
it's external(on the outside of the rear wheels) and likely won't
offer anything near worth buying and installing it...
The electrodrive is a mild hybrid that replaces the alternator,
similar to the system used on some malibus and the hybrid GM suvs, no
huge gains to be had there either.
Basically none of them are likely to be worth the risk, esp for a
vanagon(VC).. my two cents
