Subject: Westy Fridge - Hard to start with propane
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

I thought I would share my recent experience with the Westy fridge.

I removed the unit and placed upside down and level for 24 hours, cleaned the units combustion chamber and so on. (Thanks to Frank Condellišs web site)

After this on 120VAC things worked well, however propane lighting was hit and miss.

I traced the problem to a sticky check valve in the air pump. I washed out the plastic pump chamber, piston, pipe and check valve with hot water & detergent. All the moving parts are plastic, so no lubrication was used on reassembly (I believe it had been lubricated, causing the sticky valve). After this process, it starts well.

Best Regards

Dave
