Making copies (or scanning) your receipts is a great idea. In some cases however it may not be necessary. I know that AutoZone for one keeps that information on file in their computer system. That is one good thing I can say - if you buy something there that has a warranty you should be able to get that warrantee honored at any Autozone, receipt or no receipt.

That however doesn't mean the rebuilds are any good or they will have what you need in stock.

I have an Autozone rebuilt starter in my bus. It may not be the best thing but it was one of those situations where I needed it and they could have it there for me the next day - which was a Sunday.

Good in a pinch - but if you have the time and accessability I would say new (or reliably rebuilt) from a quality source is best for sure.

I'd buy a solid alternator and keep it as a spare - then run that Autozone on until it gives out.

Good luck.
